"Your key to living well with dyslexia" The Learning Solution of SW Florida is an educational support center committed to identifying and tutoring individuals (from children to adults) with dyslexia, supporting their families, and consulting educators on classroom strategies. Certified in dyslexia testing, diagnosing and tutoring people with dyslexia, they use the Barton Reading and Spelling System, an Orton-Gillingham-based program focused on developing phonemic awareness and ultimately improving reading competency for individuals with dyslexia. They provide both informal dyslexia screenings-to clarify whether or not academic difficulties are due to dyslexia, and formal dyslexia testing-to obtain a definitive diagnosis of dyslexia and receive classroom accommodations. The Learning Solution provides individualized tutoring in reading and spelling plus teacher inservices to educate the teachers in your child's school using the latest research about dyslexia and classroom accommodations. They also work extensively with parents to assess the learning needs of their children and to provide support as they adjust to the learning differences dyslexia presents. students are given a two-part diagnostic test. The first is a written test
designed to assess the student’s weakness with respect to grade-level
material. The second part is a series of oral questions, designed to assess
the depth of the student’s understanding of key math concepts and skills. We
use the results of our assessment to develop a learning plan and provide
