The majority of Business Measurement’s new
clients are either still trying to grow their businesses, or they
have grown too fast and are cutting back because they have simply
outgrown their own management capabilities. Most have failed to
establish a firm foundation of systems, controls and procedures
and are still trying to do everything themselves. If their sanity
and family life have held up, the first casualty is usually
profit. “Because in business you cannot manage what you cannot
measure.”
Tom Cavalier, Certified QuickBooks Pro
Advisor, is not an accountant, but can quickly show you where many
accountants fail to include profit in your breakeven. Tom
maintains that very few businesses can survive where the owner
doesn’t get paid. So he teaches businesses to include profit,
and then he sets up their existing QuickBooks to provide certain
key indicators so they can tell, sometimes on a day to day or week
to week basis, what needs to be done to ensure profitability.
The majority of small businesses now use QuickBooks
– primarily to do taxes, because that is what QuickBooks
does – so it is logical to expand QuickBooks
functions and use QuickBooks
to identify and fix the profit problems. “The break occurs when
they start to manage the business instead of the numbers.”
Tom and his assistants, all experienced
business people, will be happy to walk through making your
business work for you, they will train your employees in QuickBooks
and management via a prioritized program to fit both your
requirements and your budget. He’s good at it and loves to do
it. You never see him without a smile.
Tom came to Florida in 2002 after selling his
successful insurance business near Niagara Falls, NY. Where he
worked closely with many small businesses and a few that made it
from small through medium sized – the critical area – and
became big businesses. Both successes and failures graphically
demonstrated the perils and the
importance of changing
from being owner dependent to reliance on systems and management.
Tom and his wife enjoy traveling themselves,
but the real thrill is sending their grandkids tickets to Florida.
His goal for the business is to get it so well staffed and
systematized that he can spend 8 weeks every year in the
Caribbean. So far he only takes four.
