His father was a machinist turned air conditioning contractor, and John's
interest in air conditioning started early in life. He loved to ride on
calls in the truck with his father and help on jobs. He remembers this
as how he spent weekends and school breaks, and his father taught him about
life and air conditioning.
John's father was also an air conditioning teacher at Lee Vo- Tech, and his
father also became his school instructor for air conditioning.
John had been working for and being taught
by his father all his life, and for a time decided he wanted to go his own
way. He decided to turn his passion for cooking into a career choice,
and was the cook at Mrs. Appleton's for about 4 years. But even while
exploring a new career, he always was involved in air conditioning. So now he
cooks for a hobby and does air conditioning as his calling. His wife,
Grace, appreciates that he loves to cook, and encourages him to cook at home
all he wants!
John and Grace met when Grace called him to
repair the air conditioning at a rental unit she had. They met and the
attraction was instant. John expertly fixed the problem, and they exchanged
phone numbers. John was on the phone asking her out on a date before
Grace even made it home, and the rest is history. That was 12 years ago.
Now, married 11 years, they both think it was fate her air conditioner died
that day.
John continued to work with his father, but the day came he decided to strike out
on his own. He went to work for a local pool heater company building
heaters from scratch. He ended up traveling throughout Florida servicing units
for almost 4 years.
Finally being on the road was too much.
He wanted to be home with his family, and his family wanted him at home, so in
2004 John and Grace started Anointed Air and Refrigeration. John is the tech,
and Grace runs the office and schedules the jobs. They are even starting
a second generation at Anointed Air with one of Grace's sons from her previous
marriage learning the family businesses.
Anointed Air and Refrigeration has the motto
"Where Cool Air Is A Blessing!" The both believe that their meeting and
their business are a blessing from God, and consider Him CEO of both their
family and business.
The core of their business has been
commercial refrigeration for large corporations like U-Store-It and Circle K, and also
do air conditioning, refrigeration and kitchen ventilation for many of your
favorite restaurants in Charlotte, Lee, and Collier counties.
They also love the residential work because
they get to be outside, and John says he still feels rewarded being able to
bring people relief from the heat, knowing he does a great job at a fair
price.
John and Grace love to travel on cruise
ships and explore different destinations and cultures, are very active in their
church, and enjoy donating their time and air conditioning services to many
other area churches.
